Sunset in Venice, Italy

Description

In 1990, right after the anti communism revolution in Romania, I was offered the amazing opportunity to visit Italy.⠀

Seeing the bad situation in our country, a rich baroness from Cita di Cuneo sponsored our school to send the pupils with best grades, to Italy for the Summer break.⠀

I will not go into details of how many friendships that tore apart as there were only 3 (top 3) seats for every class etc, but what I do want to mention is that we also got to visit Venice (#Venezia) during our stay.⠀

That was 27 years ago and I was in 5th grade. I was 11 years old!⠀

Today, at 38, I revisit the magnificent city of Venice, Italy with my wife and our two children, Hannah (10) and Luca (12).⠀

So 27 years ago I was almost the same age as my kids are now, and we're here for a few days, celebrating #childrenday. There are so many feelings in my heart right now, grown up and with my own offspring, returning to the first city outside communist Romania that I visited.⠀

And this superb sunset, close to Cuglia Bridge, that we witnessed together, makes our first day here a true blessing.⠀

On our walk back to the hotel, I spend a few minutes telling them how much different their lives are now, compared to the little boy trapped inside a communism regime as I was 27 years ago.⠀

The bottom line:⠀

1. Nothing is new under the Sun. All things were before and they will be again.⠀

2. Cherish the day and live in the light. Others have it far worse than you, so be thankful for what you have, not worry about what you lack.⠀
